Food City Supports the Medal of Honor Celebration

Food City Supports the Medal of Honor Celebration
Abingdon, VA. - Wednesday, Nov 30, 2022.

Long recognized as a proud supporter of our nation’s veterans, Food City hosted a fundraising campaign to benefit the 2022 Medal of Honor Convention. The campaign ran from August 31st through September 9th in all Food City locations. Shoppers were given an opportunity to make a $1, $3, or $5 monetary donation at the checkout. 100% of the funds collected are benefitting the Medal of Honor Celebration.

The Medal of Honor Celebration took place in Knoxville, TN in September. The city was also honored to serve as the host site for the 2014 convention. The Medal of Honor is the nation’s highest military honor. Bestowed by the President of the United States, it’s awarded to members of the armed forces who “distinguish themselves through conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their lives above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against the enemy of the United States. Since its inception, just over 3500 individuals have been awarded the medal. There are currently fewer than 70 living recipients.”
